急性腎損傷(AKI)是非惡性瘧疾,特別是 *Plasmodium knowlesi* 感染時常見的併發症,約有兩到三成住院患者會發生,且多見於年長或重症者。嚴重 AKI 雖少見,但死亡率高,主因是溶血和腎損傷。嚴重時可考慮用 paracetamol 保護腎臟。*P. vivax* 引起 AKI 較少,資料有限,可能被低估。*P. malariae* 和 *P. ovale* 相關研究很少,長期影響也不清楚,需更多研究。
